      Illustrated Guide to Crafting Quests

Crafting can get you some of the most powerful gear, the coolest furniture items, or the strongest pet snacks. If you roll over the "BUY" on a recipe, you'll see that you need a certain rank to craft the item.

So how do you get to Apprentice Crafter? Adept Crafter? Or even Legendary Artisan? You need to do crafting quests to level up your wizard to further ranks. All possible ranks are:

      • Novice Crafter
      • Apprentice Crafter
      • Initiate Crafter
      • Adept Crafter
      • Master Artisan
      • Grandmaster Artisan
      • Legendary Artisan
      • Transcended Artisan

Note that not all levels your wizard can achieve are crafting ranks. Journeyman Crafter and Magus Crafter are no such titles.

Let's take a look at these quests and the best ways to complete them.

      Novice Crafter

Eudora Tangletree, located in Olde Town, gives you your very first crafting quest.

The goal of this quest is to locate a reagent known as Mist Wood. This is the only quest you will ever be given to find a certain reagent. This is just to start you off with basic crafting.

The easiest way to do this is to go to the bazaar and buy the Mist Wood. It only costs around 21 gold and will get the quest done quickly. Of course, you could look around various areas of Wizard City while you are questing to try to find some on your own.

After you return to Eudora, she will give you your reward and the next quest to actually craft some items.

      Reward:
      • Basic Crafting Station
      • Extra Cooldown Timer
      • 30 Experience

Crafting items it what you will actually have to do in order to achieve your rank.

The reagents needed for the Daggers of Absolution aren't too hard to acquire. You need more Mist Wood, which you could easily pick up at the Bazaar again along with the Cat Tails.

The Sapphire and the Black Coal could be bought from the vendor next to her, named Elmer Meadowgrass. After getting the Reagents, you will have to craft the item on the Basic Crafting Station you just got from the last quest. Place it in your dorm and walk up to it in order to use it.
Remember, you need two of the athames in order to hand in your quest. And make sure they are both in your backpack!

      Item Details
      Item Name: Dagger of Absolution
      Necessary to Craft: 2
Recipe Vendor: Eudora Tangletree; Olde Town, Wizard City
      Recipe Price: 69 Gold Pieces
      Crafting Rank Required: None
      Crafting Station: Basic Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 00:1:00 (1 Minute) - 00:00:30 for subscribers (Thirty seconds)
Recipe: 2 Sapphire, 4 Black Coal, 2 Mist Wood, 2 Cat Tail

      Reward:
      • Novice Crafter Badge
      • 164 Gold Pieces

This badge means that you have completed all the crafting quests you could possibly complete in Wizard City. You are now ready to move on to Krokotopia!

      Apprentice Crafter

Eudora will give you her final quest that will send you to Krokotopia. You will have to talk to the Apprentice Crafter, Wul'yahm.

No major prizes for this quest. There is usually a quest that will just send you to the next world without any crafting involved. This is not the case with Grandmaster and Legendary Artisan, but we'll get more into that later on.

      Reward:
      • 55 Experience

After talking to Wul'yahm, you will give you a quest to craft two Rings of Insight. You might have to wait a little while since you only have one cooldown timer at this point.

The recipe is a little bit tougher than the Dagger of Absolution. The Citrine and Simple Vials can be bought at the reagent vendor next to Wul'yahm. But it also requires Parchment and Stone Block in order to craft.

You can find the Parchment pretty commonly at the Bazaar. The Stone Block might be found there as well, but it seems to be a bit more difficult to find. You may want to search around Krokotopia for them.

You won't have to wait for your timer to cooldown before starting this quest. It only takes 30 seconds for it to do so. You are going to need a cooldown timer open for each item, so wait a half hour after crafting the first to craft the second. After crafting them and handing them in, claim your reward and accept the next quest.

      Item Details
      Item Name: Ring of Insight
      Necessary to Craft: 2
Recipe Vendor: Wul'yahm; The Oasis, Krokotopia
      Recipe Price: 315 Gold Pieces
      Crafting Rank Required: Novice
      Crafting Station: Basic Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 01:00:00 (1 Hour) - 00:30:00 for subscribers (Thirty minutes)
Recipe: 1 Citrine, 6 Simple Vial, 4 Parchment, 6 Stone Block

      Reward:
      • 825 Gold Pieces
      • Extra Cooldown Timer

Before getting the rank of Apprentice Crafter, there is still one more quest. You need to craft two athames, known as Poniards of Gallantry.

The recipe is, again, pretty simple. The jades and Simple Vials can be bought from the vendor, and the Deep Mushrooms and Stone Blocks can be purchased at the bazaar.

      Item Details
      Item Name: Poniard of Gallantry
      Necessary to Craft: 2

      Reward:
      • Apprentice Crafter Badge
      • 661 Gold Pieces

You will now be sent to Marleybone to become an Initiate Crafter.

      Initiate Crafter

Wul'yahm will give you a quest to talk to Felicia Worthington.

She will give you your reward, as well as your next quest.

      Reward:
      • 105 Experience

The following quest is a bit different since you have to craft two different items at once. These items are the Stinger of the Scorpion and the Constellation Jewel. Two of each must be made.

Their recipes are a little harder since they require Scrap Iron. Various areas of Marleybone hold this reagent.

This is the only quest necessary to complete in Marleybone in order to earn your Initiate Crafter badge.

      Item Details
Item Name: Stinger of the Scorpion

      Reward:
      • Initiate Crafter Badge
      • 3373 Gold Pieces

      Adept Crafter

After becoming an Initiate Crafter, you will have to go to Mooshu to continue your crafting quests. Toshio will supply you with the Adept Crafter quest. There is no Journeyman Crafter title; it skips to Adept after Initiate.

      Reward:
      • 175 Experience

You will have to craft two Seals of the Seraphim for the next quest. The recipe isn't too hard, with most of the reagents available at the vendor next to him. You will need an Equipment Crafting Station. It allows you to craft more advanced equipment than the Basic Crafting Station. As crafting quests go on, you'll see the Basic Crafting Station have less use.

The Black Lotus reagent is introduced in this quest. A lot of them are needed for crafting, especially for transmuting into Diamond, which is necessary later on.

      Item Details
Item Name: Seal of the Seraphim
      Necessary to Craft: 2
Recipe Vendor: Toshio; Jade Palace, Mooshu
      Recipe Price: 900 Gold Pieces
      Crafting Rank Required: Initiate
      Crafting Station: Equipment Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 12:10:00 (Twelve hours, ten minutes) 06:05:00 (Six hours, five minutes) for subscribers
Recipe: 4 Peridot, 3 Ruby, 5 Glass Vial, 10 Black Lotus, 15 Mist Wood

      Reward:
      • 2360 Gold Pieces
      • Extra Cooldown Timer

The Possibility Dirks required to craft for the next quest is not too hard. You'll need Ectoplasm to craft it, which is common at the Bazaar.

The rest of the reagents are pretty common and have been used in past quests.

      Item Details
      Item Name: Possibility Dirk
      Necessary to Craft: 2
Recipe Vendor: Toshio; Jade Palace, Mooshu
      Recipe Price: 850
      Crafting Rank Required: Initiate
      Crafting Station: Equipment Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 11:25:00 (Eleven hours, twenty-five minutes) 05:42:30 (Five hours, forty-two minutes, thirty seconds) for subscribers
Recipe: 2 Sapphire, 2 Ruby, 5 Glass Vial, 10 Ectoplasm, 15 Stone Block

      Reward:
      • 2220 Gold
      • Adept Crafter Badge

That will complete all quests necessary in Mooshu.

      Master Artisan

Toshio will send you to Dragonspyre to continue crafting and gain the Master Artisan badge.

Balthazar Dragonthorn is in the Atheneum of Dragonspyre. Talk to him to complete this quest.

      Reward:
      • 230 Experience

Dragonspyre crafting quests are much harder than the previous worlds. To even "become his student", you will need to craft a very hard ring. It actually has the shortest number of different reagents needed out of any other crafting quest, but they are very hard to acquire.

The Ghost Fire can be bought at the vendor next to him. You will need more Black Lotus. However, you'll also need Diamonds.

The Diamonds would most likely be the main problem with this recipe. You can go about getting them a couple different ways. You can search for them in the bazaar, but they aren't very common and you will have to be quick at buying them. The other way is to transmute them from 15 Ore. Felicia Worthington sells the recipe for this, but you'll need a Card Crafting Station. You're going to need a lot of it, so it might take a little while!

      Item Details
      Item Name: Ring of Apotheosis
      Necessary to Craft: 2
Recipe Vendor: Balthazar Dragonthorn; The Atheneum, Dragonspyre
      Recipe Price: 1125 Gold Pieces
      Crafting Rank Required: Adept
      Crafting Station: Equipment Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 15:00:00 (Fifteen hours) 07:30:00 (Seven hours, thirty minutes) for subscribers
Recipe: 9 Ghost Fire, 15 Diamond, 20 Black Lotus

      Reward:
      • 2925 Gold Pieces

The next quest is the only crafting quest given thus far that changes upon school. If you are fire, your quest will differ than if you were myth. Balthazar Dragonthorn does not supply the recipe for this quest, which, again, varies upon school. All the items can be found in vendors around MooShu. Please skip to the quest given to your school of focus.

      Fire

Katsuko Mukai, located in Hametsu Village of MooShu, sells the recipe for the Grimblaze Vestment. The recipe is fairly long, but it is not all that complicated.

This is the first time in which you need a treasure card in a recipe, which, in this case, are Sunbirds. Any type of the card will work from any set as long as they are not enchanted. Many different Sunbirds can be found in the Bazaar, so choose the cheapest since they all work.

The rest of the recipe is a little harder. The Onyx can be found at any reagent vendor, but you'll have to go back to Balthazar for the Crystal Vials. Leather Straps can easily be found in the Bazaar. Frost Flowers can be harvested in frosty, or ice-covered, areas around the Spiral, most commonly Wintertusk. Black Pearls can either be hunted down in the Bazaar or transmuted from Black Lotus. Stone Blocks can be harvested in many areas or searched for in the Bazaar.

*Full credit goes to the Wizard101 Central Wiki for image

This is the first time in which you need a treasure card in a recipe, which, in this case, are Nature's Wraths. Any type of the card will work from any set as long as they are not enchanted. Nature's Wraths are not always common at the Bazaar, so you may have to look around for them.

There is one more quest to complete before you can earn your Master Artisan badge. You'll need to craft two Crimson Book Stands.

The recipe is not found at Balthazar Dragonthorn, similarly to the robe quests. You will have to go to MooShu again to buy the recipe from Toshio, the Adept Crafter. Make sure you buy a Housing Crafting Station since this is a furniture item.

The recipe is not too hard, and you may find it easier than your robe quest. The Fire Elves are usually always at the Bazaar, so buy one from whichever set is the cheapest. The Shadow Oil and Glass Vials can be found at most reagent vendors. The Cat Tails and Blood Moss can be bought at the Bazaar. You may have to do some transmuting, however, for the Nightshade and Black Pearls. Wul'yahm sells the recipe for transmuting the Nigthshades. You'll need 15 Deep Mushrooms to make one, but you might also find them as rare harvests from the Deep Mushrooms. The Black Pearl recipe is bought from Toshio. 15 Black Lotus will transmute into one Black Pearl, but, once again, you can find them as rare harvests from the Black Lotus.

      Item Details
      Item Name: Crimson Book Stand
      Necessary to Craft: 2
Recipe Vendor: Toshio; Jade Palace, Mooshu
      Recipe Price: 1760 Gold Pieces
      Crafting Rank Required: Adept
      Crafting Station: Housing Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 08:00:00 (Eight hours) 04:00:00 (Four hours) for subscribers
Recipe: 3 Fire Elf, 3 Shadow Oil, 1 Glass Vial, 36 Cat Tail, 12 Nightshade, 10 Blood Moss, 6 Black Pearl

That will complete your Dragonpsyre crafting and finally earn you your Master Artisan badge. (Notice you are now an Artisan, not a Crafter)

      Reward:
      • 2130 Gold Pieces
      • 1425 Experience
      • Master Artisan Badge

Yet... your crafting journey is not yet over!

      Grandmaster Artisan

Balthazar Dragonthorn, with a new update, now gives a quest that will lead you to Celestia to become a Grandmaster Artisan.

Simply talk to Pierce Stanson in The Floating Land of Celestia to complete this quest. Straightforward and simple, but it gets more difficult...

      Reward:

      • 40 Gold Pieces
      • 1005 Experience

Pierce's crafting quest will require you to craft the Seal of the Seven Seas.

You will have to buy the recipe from Pierce Stanson (Fun fact... it wasn't always like this! He used to automatically put the recipe in your spellbook!). This is the only quest you need to complete to get your Grandmaster Artisan badge, so it's going to be pretty hard.

For this quest, you only have to craft one of the amulet. The Polymorph Treants are found at The Archivist, but there is a level restriction of level 55. This treasure card cannot be auctioned or traded, so you cannot obtain the card this way if you are below this level. You will have to go to Kimba Kalla in The Floating Land to craft it instead. The crafting recipe has no level requirement, so it will work in that case. The Perfect Jades and Pristine Vials can be bought at the reagent vendor in Celestia, known as Archytas (He is in Celestia Base Camp, not The Floating Land). Sunstone, Golden Pearls, and Sandstone might have to be transmuted if you do not want to look around in the Bazaar. All the recipes can be found at Avery Templeton in the Celestia Base Camp. You'll need 15 Sandstone for a Sunstone, 15 Pearls for a Golden Pearl, and 10 Stone Block for a Sandstone. Fish Fin are found as drops from Fish-type creatures, or bought at the Bazaar (They can be very expensive, though!).

      Item Details
Item Name: Seal of the Seven Seas
      Necessary to Craft: 1
Recipe Vendor: Pierce Stanson; The Floating Land, Celestia
      Recipe Price: 1787 Gold Pieces
      Crafting Rank Required: Master
      Crafting Station: Equipment Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 10:50:00 (Ten hours, fifty minutes) 05:25:00 (Five hours, twenty-five minutes) for subscribers
Recipe: 5 Polymorph Treant, 7 Perfect Jade, 5 Pristine Vial, 6 Sunstone, 11 Golden Pearl, 8 Fish Fin, 10 Sandstone

      Reward:
      • 7278 Gold Pieces
      • 3000 Experience
      • Grandmaster Artisan Badge

You're almost done with all of the crafting quests! Again, Pierce Stanson will not give you another quest, so you will have to go to Zafaria by yourself. You are going to have to have access to Zafaria by now, because there is now a quest requirement in order to get the Legendary Artisan quest.

      Legendary Artisan

Koyate Ghostmane will be in the Baobab Crossroads until you complete the quest "No Bother", which is at the beginning of the Zafaria storyline. He will then leave and go to the Baobab Market where he will give you the crafting quest you want.

Be warned now, this quest is very hard, most likely the hardest of any other crafting quest. It's going to take a little while, so don't give up!
The Legion Shield treasure cards are dropped by many ice mobs in Wintertusk, but you might occasionally find them in the Bazaar. The Perfect Onyx and Pristine Vials can be found at the Zafarian reagent vendor, Noxolo Fasttrack. That part is easy, but it gets a lot harder.

Sunstones can be transmuted from 15 Sandstones. Black Pearls can be transmuted from 15 Black Lotus. Golden Pearls can be transmuted from 15 Pearls. Aether can be transmuted from 15 Kelp. A lot of this recipe revolves around transmutions, so you're going to need more reagents than what is listed on the recipe itself.
If you'll notice from how the Spirit Caller Drum looks, there are two smaller Conga Drums at its sides. Well, guess what? You have to craft them separately.
Before we take a look at the Conga Drums, here is the item details for the Spirit Caller Drums.

      Item Details
      Item Name: Spirit Caller Drum
      Necessary to Craft: 2
Recipe Vendor: Koyote Ghostmane; Baobab Market, Zafaria
Recipe Price: 0 Gold Pieces (Automatically provided, not sold)
      Crafting Rank Required: Grandmaster
      Crafting Station: Housing Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 12:00:00 (Twelve Hours) 06:00:00 (Six hours) for subscribers
Recipe: 4 Legion Shield, 2 Perfect Onyx, 2 Pristine Vial, 9 Sunstone, 14 Black Pearl, 8 Golden Pearl, 2 Conga Drum, 13 Aether

Since you are crafting two of these, you will need 4 Conga Drums. The recipe is pretty hard as well.

The Giants are treasure cards that can be easily bought in the Bazaar. The Amethyst and Crystal Vials can be bought at many recipe vendors around the Spiral. The Aethers might have to be transmuted from Kelp. The Shells are usually pretty common at the Bazaar, as well as the Scales. The Fossils can be what causes problems for many people. You need 16 of them for one drum, making a total of 64 Fossils needed for the quest. You can transmute the Fossils from 15 Stone Block. However, that means you will need 940 Stone Block, which is a lot. Finding them in the Bazaar might be too difficult, but you might want to try browsing through occasionally and trying to buy a few. It'll help reduce the number of Stone Blocks you need by 15 each time you do so. The Fossils are really the hardest part of any crafting quest.

      Item Details
      Item Name: Conga Drum
      Necessary to Craft: 4
Recipe Vendor: Gearwise; Celestia Base Camp, Celestia
      Recipe Price: 4755 Gold Pieces
      Crafting Rank Required: Adept
      Crafting Station: Housing Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 24:00:00 (Twenty-four hours [One day]) 12:00:00 (Twelve hours) for subscribers
      Recipe: 2 Giant, 1 Amethyst, 1 Crystal Vial, 4 Aether, 8 Shell, 16 Fossil, 4 Scales

For this quest, you do not have to have the items in your backpack! It would actually be better if you don't, considering you will get to keep them if you have them placed in your house. After handing the quest in, you will earn the title of Legendary Artisan.

      Reward:
      • 7981 Gold Pieces
      • 3500 Experience
      • Legendary Artisan Badge

      Transcended Artisan

Oztomeca, in Three Points of Azteca, will have the Transcended Artisan crafting quest waiting for you after you finish the Legendary Artisan one. The first part of this quest requires you to go to the Chinampa Gardens in the Mangrove Marsh, which you will have to do before completing the crafting part of this quest.

The quest goal will then change to crafting the Eagle War Shield, the item you need to make in order to become a Transcended Artisan.

There are many new reagents added with the release of Azteca in this recipe. Potent Trap, Agave Leaves, Agave Nectar, and Turquoise are all new.

Potent Trap can be found as a drop from bosses around Azteca. Ra treasure cards can be easily found in the Bazaar. Agave Leaves can be harvested from Mangrove Marsh, Cloudburst Forest, and Alto Alto. Agave Nectar is a rare harvest from Agave Leaves so it can also be found in those areas. Scrap Iron can be found around Marleybone or occasionally in the Bazaar. Golden Pearls can be found at the Portico in Celestia. Leather Straps are very common at the Bazaar and Turquoise is also a drop for Azteca bosses.

      Item Details
      Item Name: Eagle War Shield
      Necessary to Craft: 1
Recipe Vendor: Oztomeca; Three Points, Azteca
      Recipe Price: 12000 Gold Pieces
      Crafting Rank Required: Legendary
      Crafting Station: Housing Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 6:00:00 (Six hours) 3:00:00 (Three hours) for subscribers
Recipe: 1 Potent Trap, 2 Ra, 2 Agave Leaves, 5 Agave Nectar, 10 Scrap Iron, 4 Golden Pearl, 10 Leather Straps, 5 Turquoise

Completing this quest earns you the Transcended Artisan badge, which is currently the highest crafting title in the game.

      Reward:
      • 250 Gold Pieces
      • 17300 Experience
      • Transcended Artisan Badge

      Side Quests

Aside from earning badges by progressing throughout the Spiral, there is currently one side quest in the game that requires crafting. Since it is technically a crafting quest, I will cover that here. You will have to go to Odgen Peake in Celestia to get this quest. At level 52, he will give you the quest "The Special". If you complete that, he will give you the quest "Me and My Arrow" at level 54. Once completing that quest, you will finally get the crafting quest at level 56, known as Time for Tea. You will have to craft a Tea Set as the goal.

The recipe can be found in Grizzlehiem from the recipe vendor there. You only have to craft one of them, and the recipe is not very difficult. You will need to be an Adept Crafter to purchase the recipe, so make sure you have done many of the crafting quests.

Reshuffles can be bought at the Wizard City Library. Amethysts, Shadow Oil, and Glass Vials can be bought at nearly any reagent vendor. Fossils can be transmuted from Stone Block, and Red Mandrake is common at the Bazaar and is harvested in many areas. Handing this in to him will earn you a training point, which is the only crafting quest that rewards you with one.

      Item Details
      Item Name: Tea Set
      Necessary to Craft: 1
Recipe Vendor: Torald Wayfinder; Northguard, Grizzleheim
      Recipe Price: 2430 Gold Pieces
      Crafting Rank Required: Adept
      Crafting Station: Housing Crafting Station
Cooldown Time: 24:00:00 (Twenty-four hours [One day]) 12:00:00 (Twelve hours) for subscribers
Recipe: 5 Reshuffle, 1 Amethyst, 3 Shadow Oil, 1 Glass Vial, 8 Fossil, 16 Fossil, 35 Red Mandrake

      Reward:
      • 75 Gold Pieces
      • 1 Extra Training Point
      • 1790 Experience

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, anything, post it on the thread. I should be able to help you out with any problems regarding crafting.

      Good luck with your crafting!

Marleybone quests added to the guide.
I might go back to add more detail to the items after I get the outline of the quests done.

      MooShu added.
Since this guide is supposed to cover more than just crafting quests, I'll be going back to add in more information soon. I'll put in more detail about the items itself, such as crafting stations, cooldown times, etc.

So it won't be necessarily "complete" until I do all that. Hopefully I can quest fast enough to get it done soon!

Re: Illustrated Guide to Crafting Quests

I want to add that if you feel you want to keep your Crimson Book stand for the master artisan quest, just place them in your house and it will still go towards your quest, and you get to keep the book stands in the house, you can also do this with the grandmaster artisan artisan amulet quest.

      Great job on the guide!

I know it is not really part of the main crafting quest line, but have you considered including Ogden Peak's Teapot quest as a sort of footnote to the guide?

The reason I suggest this is because (if my memory is not failing me) that is the only other quest in the game that requires you to do crafting. It is also the only crafting quest that gives a training point.

Re: Illustrated Guide to Crafting Quests

      TREMENDOUS GUIDE!!!

Crafting is considered by some a sideline to Wizard101, but it is worth doing because of all the great gear and decorations you can make. All seven of my wizards are legendary artisans (do you how many fossils that took) and all seven wear the badge as a great accomplishment.
