(68+) A Death Defying Victory: A Necromancer's Guide to Soloing Bosses

(68+) A Death Defying Victory: A Necromancer's Guide to Soloing Bosses

      Key:
      * - Vital to your success
      * - Could be useful
      * - Not needed but can be used

When reading this guide, you should be nearing the end of Zafaria at Lvl. 68+
As a death student, you should be able to solo most bosses because of your life drain's, although, some bosses might not be that easy. This guide will show you a quick way to defeat a common boss on your way through the spiral.

      *Equipment (Recommended):
      1. Hangman's Hood
      2. Hangman's Robes
      3. Hangman's Boots
      4. Barbarian Philosopher's Mark (Amulet)
      5. Knight Errant's Seal (Ring)
      6. Any kind of Life/Death wand (To eliminate Tower Shields without using your blades)
      -Any dagger will do-

      *Treasure Cards (Recommended):
Personally, I don't use treasure cards but they could help you in battle.

      1. Dragonblade
      2. Berserk
      3. Tower Shield

      *
      Technique:
I usually use the BHR technique (Buff, Hit and Repeat)
In a boss fight, there is usually the boss and a minion.
The first thing you need to do is kill the minion.
Do do this, you should use these spells:

      1. Deathblade (From amulet as well) Buff
      2. Death Trap
      3. Spirit Blade
      4. Spirit Trap
      5. Death Prism (If needed)
      6. Dr. Von's Monster (Make sure to do it fast)
      Hit
That series of spells should eliminate the minion and leave you with just the boss.
You should also have full health from Dr. Von's Monster.
Now this is the part of the process where you
      Repeat,
Use these series of spells to help you defeat the boss
      1. Deathblade 2x (From the amulet)
      2. Death Trap
      3. Spirit Blade
      4. Spirit Trap
      5. Curse
      6. Feint
      7. Death Prism (If needed)
      8. Dr. Von's Monster

This might kill the boss if your a lower level.
If it didn't kill the boss, repeat the spells used to defeat the minion.

Congratulations! You just soloed a boss!

Hello, not sure if this helps or hinders; but I have a Mega Enchanted Armament that has Spell-Proof (+10), Spell-Defying (+6), Fairy Friend, Unicorn and Ardent Amplifier.

My deck wavers between having a death prism, while my Ice brother carries 2 Satyrs and we both carry the Spirit or Elemental blades. While I am in the Cloudburst Forest, my brother maxed out today in the Hopper Camp of the Kondha Desert, in a holding pattern.

We have both been having nail-biting boss fights lately.

If this prisons are needed, they need to go much earlier in your sequence. The death prisons need to go on before any of your other traps, except for feint, and curse.

Re: (68+) A Death Defying Victory: A Necromancer's Guide to Soloing Bosses

Unfortunately, this is not a very useful guide. First of all, standing still (blading etc.) for 5-6 turns will get you killed against many bosses. More importantly, most schools will interfere a lot with your sequence:
Life - Death Shields (they stop casting it mid-Avalon or so, but are absolutely crazy about shielding before that)
Death - Death Ninja Pigs (leaving -25% Weakness, stacks with the usual Balance Weakness) - least intrusive, frankly
Myth - Earthquake! Myth Imp! (yes, both deserve those exclamation points and much more)
      Storm - Leviathan/Sirens, later on - Enfeeble!
Balance - Spirit Shield, Weakness (this is actually used by all schools in lower worlds, but a 68+ wizard will not see it from anyone outside of Balance), Sabertooth Tiger starting with Azteca
      Fire - Efreet
      Ice - Tower Shield

The gear selection is questionable as well. At this point, you'd better have Black Spinel of Battle as a ring - it is quite a common drop in Wintertusk. If you don't get it as a drop, simply buy Calamitous Ring. Later on, Sir Malory's Ring becomes a priority (until Alpha and Omega at level 90, if you have access to Aquila). Listing WaterWorks gear as essential is dubious - not everyone can farm infinite hours for that, not to mention the boots becoming obsolete super fast, with the crafted Zafaria/Avalon/Azteca boots providing similar or same overall resist and much higher critical block - a must for any soloist. Athames play lesser role indeed, but there are some really good ones, starting with the crafted Wintertusk daggers, then Lexicon Blade if you can get a team to farm Ervin the Barbarian (an extremely difficult fight, so I never list that as an essential item). And finally, Shango's Deathblade Amulet is a great substitute for Barbarian Philosopher's Mark, available for sale in Baobab Market. Not to mention Jewel of the Feint being leaps and bounds better against bosses.

And, finally, your spell selection. A serious solo player would never consider using Dr.Von's Monster for any fight but a single (minion-less) boss such as Luska, and even then, Wraith is way better. You have learned Gargantuan/Colossal, haven't you? If yes, Wraith with a couple of blades is good enough to kill any minion. If not, why? However, Scarecrow, lightly bladed, with dual- or triple-Feinted boss, will kill both the boss and the minion in one swift motion. Don't go for an overkill, do it quickly!

These are only a few tips, but I can be much more specific if needed.
My wizards: Corwin Swiftcatcher (Death), Alexandra Winterflower (Ice), Darby Firebreeze (Fire), Katie Wildheart (Storm), Heather (Life), Sarah LionHeart (Myth).
