A Myth Magus's guide to Mid level dueling (33-41)

NOTE: In this guide, I provided 2 different deck set-ups. One is for those who choose to duel without treasure cards, and the other is for those who choose to use treasure cards. If you are competing in a wizard101 central tournament, it is HIGHLY recommended to use treasure cards, as other competitors often use them as well. The purpose of treasurecardless PvP is for financial reasons, as making treasure cards can get quite expensive. I hope this guide can help you become a better duelist

In my 5 years in the trade, I have managed to develop 2 different decks for pvp (myths level 33-41). These decks combined helped me get over a 2-1 ratio with a record of 225-86.

      What you will need[/CENTER]

In order to properly become a warlord, you will need the following materials:

Hats, Robes, and Shoes: The robe and shoes that I use is the pvp gear. However, if you're just starting PvP you will most likely not have it. Instead, you can use dropped gear and crown gear. I would try to look for something with a good balance of resist, health, strength, accuracy, and pips. (Importance in descending order). The hat that I use is the Master's hat of the Hydra, an old piece of crown gear that has been discontinued. A good substitute for this would be headgear of the Slyph or the Angelic Helm.

Headgear of the Sylph (available at crown shop)

I use Yakedo's hypothetical robe for questing. If you don't have crowns, this robe is a good choice for pvp as well due to its stats for myth:

Daggers and rings: The daggers and rings you use should include the following: health, heal boost, and pip boost. I used Surgeon's Scalpel and the Loop of Refreshment. These items must be purchased with crowns. If you don't have crowns, look in the bazaar and find what's best for you. The band of the brave is also a good option for those of you with enough arena tickets. The stats on the band of the brave are obviously better than that on the loop of refreshment. At this level, heartsteel is essentially useless in my opinion because it sacrifices potential health gain, pip boost, and heal boost for an insignificant amount of resist.

Wand: The wand I use is the Dragonrider's life blade, which is one of the best wands you can get for mid-level duelists. It is a crown item and gives one power pip and 6 copies of "Spirit Slash," which does 95 damage. If you don't have crowns, look for a wand that gives you at least one pip. It is wise to pick a wand that casts a spell type other than myth, as it wont interfere with blades.

Amulet: Now I know everyone is buying into the Life Mastery Amulet craze. But lets face it; you don't need high-pip healing spells like satyr so early in the game. Not to mention that the amulet costs over 9950 crowns if you are looking to buy it, and it is almost impossible to receive it from a drop. If you have it, then use it by all means. The amulet that goes best with my deck is nightshade's choker. It gives 2 copies of weakness, and it helps since I do not have weakness in my deck. You can either buy it from the bazaar at a cheap price, or get it from Lord Nightshade.

Pet: The pet is probably the most flexible item. I personally use my minotaur pet, which provides spritely, 10% spell proof, pierce train, and pip o plenty. Plus it gives me an extra minotaur spell.

Here are some of the many recommended talents for pvp:

      Spritely: A good infect-breaker
      Spell-proof: Gives resist
      Spell-defying: Gives resist
Pierce train: A may-cast talent that gets rid of unwanted shields.
MC Unicorn: provides a good amount of health
      MC Balanceblade
      MC Smokescreen
      MC Tower Shield
      Painkiller
Any myth specific talent may help
And any other talents that may fit your loadout

Deck: I use Ember's Deck of Notion. It holds 45 copies. The max copy is 4, and the max copy for a myth spell is 6. The sideboard is rather large too.

      Spending Training Points

The following are the basic spells that you need to train:

Ice to tower: Tower shield is an obvious necessity. It provides protection to all schools.

Life to sprite: Sprite is a spell that can get rid of infections and heals you without wasting too many pips. With life boosts, sprite is a powerful spell.

Spiritual Blade: This blade can stack with your myth blade and help you do significant damage. It can be found outside the balance school.

Infection: This spell weakens your opponent's ability to heal. It is a common necessity for pvp. It can be taught by the death tree in nightside.

Reshuffle: If you run out of the spells you need, you can always use reshuffle. It can be found by the secret trainer in colossus blvd.

NOTE: Weakness is a spell that is highly recommended to train. However, I did not have enough training points to acquire it.

      Deck Set-up

Here is the basic deck set-up for those who choose to go without treasure cards:

Now here is the deck set-up for those who choose to use treasure cards:

As you can see, the decks are a tad different. In the treasurecardless deck, more attacks were added in order to make up for the lost attacks that would have been located in the sideboard.

EDIT: This is a deck for those of you lucky people who have the ninja pig (I would enchant the ninja pig and add it to your sideboard). Note that this is the Deck of the Lotus:

      -------------------------------------------------Optional----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you wish to use treasure cards, be my guest and follow this simple sideboard setup. I recommend using a setup like this once you get to the higher ranks. You'll need some sort of sideboard setup once you start facing players level 58+:

This setup is very basic and includes shields, weaknesses, Time of Legends, healing spells, and enchanted attacks. I use Monstrous and ninja pig on my minotaurs.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The basic strategy of this deck is to summon a minion that will get rid of shields while you save up for an attack. Also, the distraction of a minion will buy you time to shield and stack blades. If you're going first, summon a minion and shield yourself and your minion. Afterwards, you can save up pips and blade yourself until you are ready for an attack. Before an attack, be sure to put an infection on first so your opponent cannot heal properly after damage is inflicted. If you're going second, follow the same guidelines as if you are going first, but you must remain a step ahead of your opponent.

Questions? Please comment on this thread or send me a PM.

Thank you for taking the time to read this guide, and I hope it helps you become a better duelist.

I don't think anyone can get the 1st gen crown gear any more. How much of a difference do these retired equipment pieces make to the deck's effectiveness? It might be helpful to show your resistances, so that folks can get as close as possible, given their level and farming luck.

Yes, I am aware of that the first gen gear is unavailable. I will make that change now. Other alternatives include the new crown gear and pvp gear. One thing about the art of deck building is your equipment. If you're a healer, you'll obviously wear clothes with a lot of life and health boosts. If your on the defensive side, you would have high resist. etc. If your gear conflicts with your dueling style, your performance would not be at its highest.

I Can make that in 1/ 2 Hours If I feel Like farming, In The Last Week I have Maxed my Coins Twice, Spent all of them once and am Now Down to 50k. Gold Isn't So Hard to make Nowadays.

I Might Farm Tomorrow, I will Probably Max Them out Again or At least Go to 150k.

Not a Bad Guide, I myself Have 2 Myth's. I Have a Jumble of Hidden Wizards if Ya Know What I mean Including in that Jumble a Grand Ice, and Master Myth. Along with my other one's on my Profile Page.

Sir. Timothy Dreambreaker Warlord Level 42 Myth, Win ratio 227-46. Current Rank is 2247. I prefer to Use Golem Minion and Spells as Steal Health, or Sap Power For Fast Attacks or Fast Summoning. I have Not played on This Wizard Sense Celestia Came Out.

Pretty Good Guide, For a Magus Myth. And I hope you luck on your Dueling and Ranking.

I highly doubt you can make 200k in 30 min :P

Simply because of cost. Tower shields are hovering arround 400 gold and it takes to much time to make them. I'm not one who farms frequently. And remember, you don't HAVE to use this deck without treasure cards. It's whatever your prefer.

blah complaining about not using treasures with this guide being specifically wihtout using them. did you ever think that there are people out there that rush through questing because they just feel like pvping. i myself do not like farming for gold unless i am farming for gear i can use. farming just for gold is boring in my point of view.
