gnomes, no effect on growth rate

It doesn't appear that gnomes have an effect on the rate of growth (as far as I can tell, nothing does), but do they help with harvest or any other things as the plants mature?

I am a little frustrated by how long it initally takes to rank up--I want to test everything lol! I am just watching the count down to harvest. I wish I had been smart enough to immediately start as many seeds as I could--I somehow ended up with just one boom shroom that is at "4hrs to harvest"--my honey sickles and dandelions are still 20 hours away. I thought dandelion would be fastest since it is the tutorial, but...NOT.

Re: gnomes, no effect on growth rate

Before this latest update, when plant progress was measured in bars, I was carefully comparing a group of plants with a gnome to an identical group without. The gnome did produce more bars faster - but the difference in turning to mature, being ready to harvest, and turning to elder was only a matter of very few hours for these rank 1 plants, so it would be easy to overlook. I believe for slower-growing plants the difference in turning to mature, harvest or elder could be a matter of days, not just hours.

I also compared a group with a single gnome to a group with 12 gnomes - they grew at identical rates, so adding more gnomes does not speed growth.

Re: gnomes, no effect on growth rate

In my experiments with Dandelions before the new status bars were added, seedlings with gnomes reached the level of young plant in 12 hours whereas those without gnomes took 16 hours. For that level, it seems to be roughly a 4:3 hour ratio between those with gnomes and those without.

For the later stages, unfortunately, I wasn't able to get accurate data due to test realm shenanigans. The gnomes definitely have an effect, though, and I'm going to try stacking different likes and dislikes when I am able to plant more varieties.

I think they do have an effect, but I haven't yet tested them.

thanks-I set up two experimental groups again--I think that maybe I just can't tell from my first group because they haven't matured yet (and don't have the hour counter.) I took images this time, we'll see how it goes

I've been measuring mine using pixels per hour/minute. I just take a screenshot and note the time, then you can plot it on a scatter plot without worrying about keeping the intervals even. It's fun. ^_^
