This should be fixed on Test Realm.
Re: "Friendly Players feature"
I have to say "Friendly" apparently means different things to different players. I added my balance wizard to the "Friendly list" when I logged her in, just to see what would happen as she moved about the game.
I was in the Shopping District near Lloyd Fallingwater - actually in the Crown Shop buying tickets to craft the new Gauntlet - someone came up to me and said "sup" followed by "you ain't friendly nor social." I didn't even see the guy until I closed the Crown Shop. Maybe "sup" is a generational thing, but as a senior wizard player, I'm not impressed by the greeting, nor the impatience to get a response. Could he not see an icon above my wizard showing I was doing something?
The guy found someone else to talk to, but I immediately removed myself from the Friendly list to think about what this means for using it in the Live game, and how trolls may use it in ways that were not intended.

This would be a great opportunity for KingsIsle to reward it's veteran Players. I would argue that somebody is more likely to be helpful if they've been around for a while, so perhaps Players with accounts that are at least 3-5 years old could be moved into a special "veteran" category that is marketed as being friendlier?
:hmmmm:

I don't know that the age of the account should necessarily be a factor. I've had my accounts for over ten years, yet someone said I wasn't Friendly or Social. I forgot that I turned it on when I decided to go after the gauntlet recipe, so maybe I should have turned it off again? Maybe it should automatically turn off when we change worlds or teleport home?
I'm not sure if it does that.
Another thought - I'm on my Level 51 Balance wizard in The Commons, and the majority of the Friendlies here right now are Level 140. I'm going to feel intimidated having to go down the line asking each one individually for help with my quests. I suppose in the Live game, there would be many more levels represented, and if I were in Celestia, I'd see more people at my same level, but as it stands, I'd probably get better results with just chatting "out loud" asking for help like people do in Live right now.
Oh well, - went to Celestia, and there is no one listed as Friendly there.

If only it was possible that people would diversify where they hung out. It's always been that players would hang out in the commons (or their houses, where you cannot even go to if you wanted to) and it is definitely intimidating to ask a level 140 player for help. If people were to hang out in other "Commons-like" area (Oasis, Regents Square, Jade Palace, Basilica, Celestia Base Camp...), then there would be less people in various locations and such. I could only wish that "friendly" players would hang out in other locations throughout the spiral where they could be more approachable.
But it's always been the Commons in Wizard City...
