I am also an "ahem" adult who plays lots of these games. I started becuz of my 7 year old, who got me into Webkinz . . . when I got bored of that game I got her into Pirates of the Caribbean, and then when I got bored with that, I saw alot of my guild members were playing Wizards (when it was still in beta). So I got my daughter into that, and we are both hooked! I guess I'd rather do this than knit . . . : ) I also work for a PC company and we make gaming PCs so I consider this "research." ; )

I too am guilty of being an adult playing a childrens game. I get to play these games with my kids and we have great family time helping each other. If it weren't for games like wizard and tt each one of my 3 kids would be in another room doing their own thing on their computers. So it is a great way for us to be together. Actually, I've been thinking about starting a guild, probably a lot like ATTA on TTC, but of course with a different name - that's where I'm getting tripped up, I'm still thinking :wacko: - and Wizard Nerd is planning to make a guild for the younger crowd.

If any of the adults here are interested in forming such a guild, maybe you all could suggest some names.

I too started to play for the same reason as you LNO, I want to know what my kids are playing etc.. and just like toontown here my husband and I are running around with our own toons. So if anyone is ever talking to me and I seem a little off, chances are it is one of my kids even though they are not suppost to log on to my toons you know how little ones listen. :13:

We've given our reasons for it - what's not to get?

Some play because they like games and want to. Others want to check it out to make sure that it's really ok for their kids (like me) and if it's the latter, we just end up getting into it.

Not all games are like this for me - my son also likes Webkinz, Club Penguin, and some games in my forum arcade, but I didn't get into those much beyond watching him. Well, of course, I play the games on my forum from time to time :p But, as far as MMOGs - it's ToonTown or W101 for me.

Besides, they aren't all "kid's games" - they're family games.

but i do act like an adult when i play lol. i dont like it when another player ruins the fun for you though, i have someone on my friends list who i go to help quest and things, the ONLY thing he has ever said is "..." and nothing else, ever.

I'm definitely an adult. I play World of Warcraft but that's been getting pretty boring (but the expansion is coming out in November, yay!) and I saw a commercial for W101 the other day and thought I'd check it out. It's actually really sweet and I'm totally already addicted. I don't NEED blood and guts to have fun playing a game, so this is pretty awesome. The only thing I dont like is the absurd restrictions on chat. It almost makes me feel like Im playing alone. Why make an MMO with little to zero communication, you know?

I made an account for my mom. She does not seem to care though. The second beta opened I was in playing and my mom was by me watching. We had a blast. She really enjoyed watching, which is rare for her and video games. Especially if she's not playing. I think this game is good for adults because it's not so much skill intensive. Rather than having to be able to operate insane key combinations, you use the best strategy you can with cards. I wish she would play. I'd like to finally be able to play this game with someone I know in real life.

No one here said they don't also enjoy "adult games." Now when you say adult I hope you don't mean anything inappropriate. Because that is something I do not enjoy. But more adult oriented games I do play. I could write a list. But that doesn't have much to do with Wizard*101*. We're allowed to enjoy "children's" games too! And as LadyNightOwl already said, it's a family game, not a kids game. There are so many references no child would understand.

I am also in the "forever young" catagory. I started to play this because it looked like a fun way to spend the evening with my two girls. My fiancee plays WOW and the girls always thought it looked cool but they were both too young to try it themselves. I did some google searches one night and found Wiz 101 in beta before the first wipe. The rest as they say is history. All four of us are now addicted and play all the time! I am grateful to have a safe fun game that we can all enjoy together. (yes we all play each on a separeate computer at the same time) My kids think I'm cool because I play video games with them. So thanks to Wiz 101 I am cool and still a kid at heart!

I am an Adult and my oldest is 16. My kids all play wizard101 but no I am not a senior! My kids love that I play the game with them! So they even let me drop them off at school. (sometimes!) ;) A few times I have been in a battle with another adult and they let a friend join. Well there're friend is a kid and the kid flee's and we get stuck with even more monsters. I'm not trying to say "Kids don't play with other adults!"
All I'm saying is as an adult we kinda get frusterated playing with kids!!

Adult here, LONG time Gamer, I was asked to check it out for a buddy who was wondering if it would be a good game for he and his daughter to play together.

Now I'm a subscriber and I really enjoy it.

not even a teen yet. I still get this from some neighbors without kids whenever the ball for kickball might go onto their lawn or for hockey. Someone today asked if I was using their garage as a backborad I chuckled thinking she was kidding then she gives me this :nono: I am like no...:huh: not gonna be a kid for long though it has its ups and downs... But kids get the better end of the deal.

Probably the simplistic draw of it; I need somewhere to unwind after working 50-65 hours/week. This has enough of a storyline to get involved in, yet the interface is easy enough not to have to memorize 40 hotkey combinations.

Hear! Hear! Very much the same reasoning for me. Although I was dragged into the Trial by my Nephews and later my son joined in the fun. Funny thing is the nephews have wandered off to other games, my son plays occasionally. But I am the one really enjoying the game, despite some of the issues still lurking. I also work the 50-60 hour per week grind, Wiz101 affords me the ability to play the game, while watching my favorite shows/movies and not have to commit outrageous amounts of time. Yay! For easy multi-tasking!

I'm an oldie but goodie, lol! My son started playing first and then i did and loved it. It fits my Wiccan beliefs so I am all for it!

I'm an adult, and I proudly say that I play the game simply because it entertains me. I have always enjoyed the concept of wizards, be it via gaming, books, movies, et al. I have no children, and when I first heard about this game just before closed beta started, I knew I would love it.

Now, if only LadyNightOwl would re-open the process of being able to join her "Wizened Wizards" social group, I would be a happy Wizard! =)

I'm definitely an adult too. I've played just about every MMO out there, as well, but since I have been between games for a while, I thought I would try this one, and have been really liking it! Definitely a breath of fresh air.

I am a adult and a mother. My little one is still to young to play but maybe soon. I started computer games with everquest but i did have all my game systems as a kid as well. Then after everquest i had a hard time playing a game and have time with a toddler as well. After a stupid run of toontown(what was I thinking) I found wizard 101 and i have been a happy camper ever since.

I'm an adult as well. I started playing W101 as a lighter alternative to World of Warcraft. I just got bored with WoW, and decided to play W101 until my interest in WoW was rekindled. But then I got hooked. So I'm still here :P

I am an adult as well, but a kid at heart! I'm the mother of a teenage daughter. She's the one that got me into W101 and I've been addicted ever since! I've played many other online games, but there's just something about W101 that takes the stress of work away. :cool3:

My kids and I found wizards through a Toontown friend, and started during beta and have accumulated 3 full accounts. Not one spot left, lol.

Could not wait to leave Toontown, and have had fun and met such nice players here. (Then come to find out, tons of TT friends were here too!)

I cannot say how much I enjoy playing in my quiet time, to just relax.

I am and like you I started because of my child (daughter) she showed me the game. I like the game but have a lot to learn with her. We started about 3 weeks ago. currently I'm a level 22. If you see me around your more than welcome to add me if you wish.

Errr...let's just say I'm older than dirt and I got my grandkids addicted to this game. :D I have yet to run into another adult on the game but I'm still enjoying the heck out of myself every time I play.

President! Lol, back in the day when we were in grade school and the teacher took attendance, you always had somebody who never said here or present, but president. Guess that's my little inside joke saying that yes I am an adult and older mother of a newborn son (whew). I waited until I was ancient to have my first child. I have been playing video games since forever and watching cartoons since the dawn of time. I got hooked to pc games when first testing all of The Sims and started playing internet games when the first Flo's Diner came out. I saw ToonTown last year and played it until I was bored ( yes, I understand everyone here who has played it). Now, that my son is almost a year, I decided to try W101 and I have found a new home. I didn't really talk to people on ToonTown because the kids there were just to silly for me. I knew I wasnt the only adult in the world there, but hey I just stayed to myself. It's different here on W101. It's like you just know that there are other adults lurking behind the mask of a student wizard. I was right and here I am! I have a pair of twin boys who are just under the target age for this game, but are playing just fine. One of them has no problem taking the grandmaster out and beating up on bosses. The other one needs a little more hand holding. Both prefer to play while sitting in my lap.

I would definitely fit in as an adult, but I'm young at heart. lol! I found Wizard from the commercial on t.v. and only got around to checking it out about a week or so ago. I was hooked right from the start. I have two kids, neither of which are of the age to enjoy the game with me, but my older daughter loves to watch me play. =)

I'm one of the adults. I've noticed that a lot of the other adults say that they joined the game because one of their kids got them into it or they were screening it for a kid. I admit, I have no such excuse. I saw an ad for the game on some webcomic that I was reading and went OOOH! GAME?! FREE!!!! Which ended up not being so free because I got addicted and had to get a subscription in order to play the rest of my quests. I tried buying the crown route but it's much more expensive. So you know how I've enjoyed this game if a cheapskate like me is willing to pay for it. I haven't bought a game since Final Fantasy 8 came out.... Like what TEN years ago?

However, if by adult you mean you have a million things to do such as work, clean house, and have fun with the little ones you take care of, such as run through sprinklers, play Wizard101, bake cookies..etc, then yes, I am an adult.
Although, in my case it is nieces and I just babysit every now and then but we do have fun. :)
