UPDATED MARCH 18, 2010 - Level 9 information for updates - Life Steal Spells

This is a guide to the new Grand Master Tower that is on Colossus Blvd, Briskbreeze Tower. For those that have not seen the update and tower levels while it was on the test realm, here are the 9 levels to this very challenging tower:

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/9603/levelbegin.jpg

LEVEL 1
2x Crypt Crawler
Myth - Rank 7 Elite
1265 Health

2x Frost Phantom
Ice - Rank 6 Elite
1000 Health

LEVEL 2
2x Crypt Crawler
Myth - Rank 7 Elite
1265 Health

2x Viridian Specter
Balance - Rank 8 Elite
1395 Health
http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/2554/level2d.jpg

LEVEL 3
There are Health wisps on this level but they are on a timer... The sooner you can kill off the Viridian Specters and Fire Shriekers, the more wisps will be available to the group at the end of battle.

2x Viridian Specter
Balance - Rank 8 Elite
1395 Health

2x Fire Shrieker
Fire - Rank 7 Elite
1265 Health
http://img372.imageshack.us/img372/1709/level3g.jpg

LEVEL 4
You start off with the single boss Angrus Hollowsoul, but once you do any damage to this boss, he will summon the Exploding Ember minion. This minion will keep respawning as you do damage to Angrus but fail to kill Angrus.
Recommendation - If it is possible I would also recommend a single hit kill on Angrus and you will only face the minion once during this duel. It is best served that you kill the minion as soon as possible because once it gains four pips, the minion will cast a meteor storm that will do 10,000 damage to all players. This is accomplished easier if one of your team is of the Ice school. You could also use Quench on the minion which will dispell the Meteor Stirke and buy your team one turn for every quench that is casted.

Angrus Hollowsoul
Fire - Rank 8 Boss
6000 Health

Exploding Ember
Fire - Rank 7 Elite
1320 Health

2x Argent Clatterer
Life - Rank 7 Elite

LEVEL 6

Storm - Rank 8 Elite

2x Fire Shrieker
Fire - Rank 7 Elite
1265 Health

LEVEL 7
There are green and blue wisps in this next room, if you can grab all of the blue wisps first the green wisps will turn into Blue wisps. You can then move on to the next level with out fighting any MOBs. (Thank you Zachary FireDust)

If you should happen to grab any of the green wisps, these guys appear.

2x Viridian Specter
Balance - Rank 8 Elite
1395 Health

LEVEL 8
2x Crypt Crawler

2x Frost Phantom
Ice - Rank 6 Elite
1000 Health
http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3171/level8z.jpg

FINAL LEVEL - UPDATED MARCH 18, 2010
Orrick Nightglider
Death - Rank 8 Boss
6000 Health

3x Stomper (These minions are summoned ONCE once Orrick's health drops below 4,000)
Balance - Rank 8 Elite
1500 Health each

Level 9 - Orrick Nightglider is an interrupt boss similar to the interrupts that we had seen at the time of the Grizzleheim update. Here are some of things that you will experience in fighting Orrick:

Orrick Nightglider has 6000 health
Orrick removes single traps (Hex, Curse, Feint, School Traps, etc..) as soon as the trap is placed on him. Spirit Trap and Elemental Trap will work, but Orrick will remove the last trap in each group. So when you cast Spirit Trap - you will lose the Life Trap from the group every time. When you cast Elemental Trap - you will lose the Storm Trap from the group every time. This does not include prism spells that will be necessary if you are a death student. Recommendation - Before you start the duel with Orrick, I would remove ALL single traps from your deck completely. This will lower your deck count and will help you draw cards that you will actually need.
During the interrupt in round 3, Orrick Nightglider will cast a Heck Hound at a single target that does 560 base damage per round for three rounds (1,680 total bsase damage) and will not hesitate to case multiples of this spell at a single target. I did notice that with the last update, that the interrupt that was used to cast the Heck Hound is replaced if Orrick is dealt damage and has to places a tower shield. Recommendation - 1. Quench will dispell this attack and should be your first option in stopping this attack. 2. Stack your deck with any and all type of Fire shields. Make sure that the team member in the first spot (sun) has at least two fire shields of the same type (-80% Fire shield, the -70% twin shields, elemental shield and all treasure versions are all different types of fire shields and will get absorbed in a single fire attack).
During a second interrupt in round 4, this boss will cast a Meteor Strike that hits each player for 750 base damage each. I have not been in the tower enough to see if there is a certain round this occurs, but it does occur. - In one of the interrupts AFTER the minion have been summoned, our team suffered from the meteor strike and then an Earthquake immediately following. The earthquake was a little different since our team only suffered the damage but no shields or blades were removed. Recommendation - 1. Quench will dispell this attack and should be your first option in stopping this attack. We have also noted that there is a glitch in this level that will show the animation of the meteor strike but no one will take damage. 2. If quench is unavailable, then each team member should have some sort of fire or tower shield on them by round 4 to lower the damage from this meteor strike.
As soon as his health drops below 4000, he will summon the three Stomper minions to help. This occurs with the hit that drops his health below 4000.
While his health is between 4000 and 2000 - He will interrupt right after ANY attack and cast tower shield. This will occur between players turns so be fore-warned. He does not cast tower shield after a hit as long as his health remains above 4000 or drops below 2000. 3/18 UPDATE - Life Steal spells (Wraith, Scarecrow, Vampire and Ghoul) are not classified as an attack so these WILL NOT trigger the tower shield. *Note* - Multiple Attack spells like Orthrus, Minotaur, Hydra, etc will trigger a tower shield for each attack (2 Tower shields for Orthrus and Minotaur and 3 Tower shields for Hydra, etc..). Would recommend that these attacks not be used unless it is a final shot. Recommendation - UPDATE 2/2 - Melt will prevent Orrick from casting a single Tower Shield. Would recommend that 2 - 3 of these be placed on him sometime before he reaches the required health level to start placing them.
Once you drop his health below 2000, he stops casting tower shield, but at this stage, he removes a trap every round. Even if you don't add a new trap or hit him, "Cleanse Ward" is cast, removing any stray traps left on him.
Also, once Orrick's health is below 2000, he will start casting the Earthquakes doing 750 Base Damage (must calculate any resistance to this). Although shields and blades are not removed by this earthquake. Once Orrick has taken 2,000 to 3,000 damage or more, he will summon the 3x Stomper minions that act very similiar to the Balance Minions in the Labrynth. These minions will cast a big variety of school spells and will use Elemental and Spirit shield.
Orrick Nightglider follows the same rules as most mob's in that this boss will focus his attacks on the person in the first spot (Sun) of the battle circle, but will change his target to the person doing the most damage or the person Healing.
Recommendation - Deal Big damage to Orrick as quickly as possible with at least two of the team members, BUT not in the same turn if the first attack will do more than 2000 damage. Otherwise the second attack will run into a Tower Shield. Also do not wait for him to summon the minions since they will not come out until his health falls below 4000. In one of my attempts, our team made the mistake of waiting for Orrick to summon the minions and ended up eating too many Heck Hounds and Meteor Storm to finish off this attempt.

Highly Recommended -

Training or Treasure card version of Quench or having a Fire wizard along for the ride. Be aware that the two different versions of treasure card quench and the regular spell are ALL DIFFERENT. If one or more of these are applied at the same time, they will all get used in a single fire spell cast by Orrick. Be sure to cast one extra if possible to over compensate. Orrick has a tendancy to cast a fire spell on his regular turn and this will exhaust a quench allowing for the Heck hound or Meteor Stike to fall through the crack.
Training or Treasure card version of Melt or having an Ice Wizard along for the ride. Be aware that the treasure card melt and the regular spell are DIFFERENT. If one or more of these are applied at the same time, they will all get used in a single Ice spell cast by Orrick. Be sure to cast one extra if possible to over compensate. Orrick has a tendancy to cast an Ice spell on his regular turn and this will exhaust a Melt allowing for the Tower shield to be cast.
If #2 is not available - Treasure card versions of either Pierce or Steal Ward or having a Myth Wizard along for the ride. If a tower shield is cast, these are just great options to have rather than just trying to over power the 50% defense that Tower shield provides.

In reguards to Level 7:

If you collect the blue wisps first, the green wisps will turn blue, allowing you to collect all the wisps.

You will then be able to move to the 8th Level, without fighting any mobs on Level 7.

Hope this helps.

May i ask, how do they "Cheat"?
I will be updating this as I pull in the information from the live realm including adding the mob types/school, but here are the ones I know now:

Level 4 - You start off with the single boss Angrus Hollowsoul, but once you do any damage to this boss, he will summon the Exploding Ember minion. This minion will keep respawning as you do damage to Angrus but fail to kill Angrus.
Recommendation - It is best served that you kill the minion as soon as possible because once it gains four pips, the minion will cast a meteor storm that will do 10,000 damage to all players. This is accomplished easier if one of your team is of the Ice school. If it is possible I would also recommend a single hit kill on Angrus and you will only face the minion once during this duel.

Level 9 - Orrick Nightglider is an interrupt boss similar to the interrupts that we had seen at the time of the Grizzleheim update. Here are some of things that you will experience in fighting Orrick:

This boss removes a single trap placed on him at any time during the that round, but usually as soon as the first trap is placed. This does not include prism spells that may be necessary if you are a death student.
During the interrupt, this boss will cast a Heck Hound at a single target that does 560 damage per round for three rounds (1,680 total damage) and will not hesitate to case multiples of this spell at a single target.
Orrick Nightglider follows the same rules as most mob's in that this boss will focus his attacks on the person in the first spot (Sun) of the battle circle, but will change his target to the person doing the most damage.
Recommendation - If you want to use traps best advice is to overload the boss with multiples of the same trap (this will have to come from all duelers) and then cast elemental or spirit traps. He will remove that last trap placed and will need to work his way through the triple traps before getting to the ones you actually plan on using.

Example -

Wizard 1 will cast feint trap, this trap will be removed by Orrick as soon as it is placed on him.
Wizard 2 will cast feint trap, trap stays.
Wizard 3 will cast feint trap, the trap stays.
Wizard 4 will cast elemental trap, the trap stays.
Next round Orrick will remove traps in the reverse order they were cast, starting with the storm trap from the elemental triple trap and keep working his way till he gets to the feint.
Any new traps added in a round will be the first removed, but he will only remove one trap a rouond.

Orrick is different now, Christo, he will only remove traps the turn they are placed, but he will always interrupt right after, so I don't think the multiple traps strategy works. Then again, I haven't tried it. The only way I know of to place traps is using an Elemental or a Spirit Trap, and he will only remove one, but there is a 1/3 chance he will remove the one you need.

I just tried to complete briskbreeze tower with 2 other grandmasters. We failed on the final floor. Its tough and the boss cheats. He uses one pip heckhounds that do 450 a turn and 0 pip metorior strikes that do 750 to everyone. Also, he gets rid of most traps that get put on him. Has anyone beaten this yet? Any stragies? And does the final boss drop anything unique? Also what do you get for completing the quest.

me and my firend beat him you do fire shields a lot and towers then do elemental trap so he only gets rid of storm trap its not smart to do feint and you also need choke and smoke screen and black mantle to give you time

I'm life and beat it about 3 times with three other people. I suggest having four people go, one life and one balance at least.

While the others were buffing up I put on fire shields and even did a rebirth so that we all had absorb. Then, when everyone is ready they all attack at the same time.

--
Forgot to add: have the balance player use judgment as soon as the minion comes out.
I'm pretty sure the final boss drops all level 50 rings.

It is a hard one. No doubt about it. The person in the first position takes a beating. Take a look at the guide below by Christo Deathgiver. Excellent tips in there. You can use traps, but it's take some strategy and teamwork.

I'm more of a solo player and being storm I have low health to begin with. This may not be worth it for me to even try.

Beside the challenge, do you win anything good for completing the quest? Any good Drops?

Before I went in, I heard people saying you need a healer or you need two healers to succeed. So, we waited around for a healer friend but then after a while, she decided not to come. It had been an hour of waiting, so we went in anyway. We were balance, death, and fire grands.

I didn't find it that hard, actually. When we got the final boss, I did understand about the fire shields, though.

Rather than having two healers, I would say you need at least two or three AoE attackers. Dragon, scarecrow, and nova really made things move quickly.

I got the Philosopher's Stone, which was the -100% pips, -100 mana, and +1 health.

My guess is that the Krokotopia Reference is going to be something added at a later date since there is no new quest after you finish the tower.

he removes traps as they are put on him. haven't tried spirit traps yet.
gotten several 50+ rings so far
0- Unique items like car's, statues, mounts
fire shields are a big plus, but with heck hounds and meteors you can only keep so many shields on.
blades and convert's hold good. i haven't had any problems there.
his meteor seem to come weather you trap him or not, as well as the first boss summoning his pet. i normally have enough traps on first boss to kill in one hit, and balance friend judge's the minion as soon as it comes out.
the 2nd boss is tough no joking around about that XD

Good job KI finally something to work at, now make it worth out time for beating him ;) 10 hitpoints and 5% attack is nice but really.
i was thinking more like 15% attack and atleast another 300 hit points to make it stand out and be a WANTED item, + a card would be nice too. something to do with the Boss like a heck hound, or beefed up meteor 500 damage is enough XD

Christo Deathgiver

Spirit Trap and Elemental Trap will work but he does remove the last trap in each group.

When you cast Spirit Trap - you will lose the Life Trap from the group

When you cast Elemental Trap - you will lose the Storm Trap from the group

I am thankful for the new content especially designed for Grands only and the rings, as they are, is reward enough for me. If you are involved in PvP at all, trust me when I say that this is a wanted ring as even a slight 5% boost could tip the balance in any duel. :)

KI's has a bigger issue on the horizon with the current 100% issue and any more than a simple +10-20 health and 5% increase to attack will just make the restructuring that much harder... :)

Although I do wish the new rings were tradeable just like all of the other gear that was just changed over... Would make the grind of farming less like a grind if I knew that I could pass on the Ice ring to my Ice wizard since my Death Wizard can not use it and will only sell it... :)

Christo - Great Guide! Nice to see KI add an optional tower that has the enhanced bosses of old for us Grandmasters to try out. I still have not gone through it, and am very much looking forward to it. This was the most anticipated part of the new updates for me, as I always like a new challenge, and this was really the only new quest/gameplay content added.

As for the Krokotopia reference, I think Christo is correct, this is pointing us towards what will be the next GM tower, which will be created and inserted at some point in Krokotopia. Given the linear story line, they could keep adding a tower in each world for us Grandmasters to go through, with each boss dropping specific items (ie rings at one, athames at the next, then swords, then pets, etc).

Christo,

I can confirm that a straight up life attack will trigger him to cast a tower shield as well. In my battle with him, only the converted death->life hit suppressed the tower shield.
Thanks as we also confirmed this over the weekend :)

Over the weekend, I was able to make several more runs at this tower. In one of these runs, one of the Stomper minion had cast an Elemental shield on Orrick and I made the mistake of casting a Hydra to eliminate the shields...
Big mistake, as all of those shields were just replaced with 3 tower shields...
All multiple attack spells like Hydra, Othrus and Minotaur will trigger a tower shield for each attack....
Not recommended... :)

I have updated the information on the final battle to include some new recommenations and notes. Please feel free to let me know if there is something that I have left out or you may have other evidence that will assit. :)

Just read the revised front page guideline on the final boss. Great breakdown and analysis of what is really the most difficult battle currently in the spiral. I really don't have anything to add structurally.

On the strategy side, I think that you need to have two wizards ready with Area of Attack spells once the Stompers are summoned. Instead of waiting for one wizard to get enough blades to cast a "one hitter" that will kill all Stompers, you are most likely better off casting two (or 3 if needed) unbladed or minimally bladed Area spells quickly to get rid of them before they start throwing tri-shields up all over the place.

When Christo and I went through with 2 other wizards last night (balance, ice, myth & life), we were able to cast earthquake and frost giant one round after the stompers showed. Both spells were weaker due to lack of blading, but another earthquake was cast the following round, taking the stompers out. To me, this strategy, along with getting 2 big attacks in on Orrick as early as possible, are two of the bigger keys to winning the battle. Timely healing doesn't hurt either!

Interesting. This is great stuff. I only wish the team I went in with last night had read this. Despite my warnings, someone did a wand attack in round 2. Ugh, that set off a chain of events that ended up being irrecoverable.

Does Orrick resummon the minions if you defeat them?

Just read the revised front page guideline on the final boss. Great breakdown and analysis of what is really the most difficult battle currently in the spiral. I really don't have anything to add structurally.

On the strategy side, I think that you need to have two wizards ready with Area of Attack spells once the Stompers are summoned. Instead of waiting for one wizard to get enough blades to cast a "one hitter" that will kill all Stompers, you are most likely better off casting two (or 3 if needed) unbladed or minimally bladed Area spells quickly to get rid of them before they start throwing tri-shields up all over the place.

When Christo and I went through last night, we were able to cast earthquake and frost giant one round after the stompers showed. Both spells were weaker due to lack of blading, but another earthquake was cast the following round, taking the stompers out. To me this point, along with getting 2 big attacks in on Orrick as early as possible, are two of the bigger keys to winning the battle. Timely healing doesn't hurt either!

Let me know when you want to go and we can put a team together, PM me or reply on the Mercenaries Thread in the meet up and help section.. :)

As far as resummons - I think he is supposed to, but has not...

We have noticed a couple of things:

After the minions are summoned, at the end of some of the rounds, you can see "Ghost images" of what appears to be additional Stompers.
Also when someone on your team is defeated there is a message that appears that says "triggeraddsummons" or something very similar.
IF it should happen, I will try to snap a picture of the message as I cant recall the exact message..

As I recall that "triggeraddsummons" message appeared right as we were defeating the stompers. I believe the last earthquake took 2 of the stompers out, and the message occurred. Then the last stomper (had minimal health left) was taken out the next round with a sword attack, triggering the message again. Something tells me its the code from the game unintentionally showing up as script in the game.

As to the minions getting resummoned, I agree with Christo. Something tells me that once the stompers are killed, they are going to come back if you don't kill Orrick in a certain number of rounds after they have been killed. At least that is my hunch.

You need to look back at the first page of this thread and read the guide. The 10,000 damage meteor strike (which is on the 4th level, not top level of this tower) can be avoided. Good luck!

I can confirm this as well. Following the the advice on the front page and a post from Godfather of Ice, I cast quench on round 2 and another in round 3 and it quenched both the heck hound and later the meteor strike.

As ironhawk stated, the animation will still show, but only once rather than a meteor strike hitting all members. Using quench actually turned this into a fairly normal battle.

BTW, quench treasure cards are abundantly available at the bazaar (for now). Also, look for the quench from the booster pack (with the little booster symbol on the card). It only costs 1 pip instead of 2.

From the information given to us from Lt. Culpepper, this is stage one of what will hopefully be more towers for Grand Masters and beyond.

DEfinately a new addition and not just some Holiday extra. :)

The real key to being successful in this tower is team work and communication. I am part of a team that has a plan that seems to work as we have defeated the tower several times now. We are successful because we have a plan and work together to make it happen.

With the first boss, our plan is to have one person with enough pips to take out the minion immediately while the other three attack boss as strongly as possible. We rotate being the "minion" hitter, meaning, if player one has enough hits for a strong spell then they wait for minion, when another player is strong enough to take out minion, then player one hits boss and so forth. Usually the boss is gone in about 5 rounds, often less.

With the second boss, the plan is different. As noted before, we don't use traps or multiple hit spells. We also noticed last night that the boss removes shields from us. We have one heavy hitter that is loaded and ready to take out all minions with one "hit them all" spell. He takes out the three mininions the round they appear. The other three hit the boss with all they have as quickly as they can.

I love this tower.

I am assuming that the person that you have assigned to take out the minions in a one "hit them all" spell is a Storm Wizard...

With Blades being the only available buff, The other "Hit them all" spells just don't have the power by themselves to accomplish a single hit kill for 1500 damage.

Fire Dragon because it is a DoT spell means that Orrick will gain a Tower shield for three rounds...
Power Nova will not because the minions are Balance.
Frost Giant, Scarecrow and Earthquake could but would require assistance from a Balance Wizard...
We also noticed last night that the boss removes shields from us.
I have never experienced this, can anyone else confirm that Orrick removes shields..???

Great observation, did not notice this...

If you read that paragraph, the only reason that I suggested and Ice or Myth Wizard was only for Pierce and Steal Ward. Please also see my notes on the Fire Dragon in my first response of this post and why I think is it not a viable option on the last boss.

My solo attempts on my Death wizard has gotten me to level 8 with minimal life remaining. I have yet to figure out how to get past that point without buying elixirs and such with crowns.

Now that I think about it, I think that crafting may be the answer I am looking for... Hmm... will have to look into that before my next attempt...

The trick I have found for Level 4 is to build up Blades and Traps on the boss for at least two attacks and save a feint until the minion is released. Having a couple of Quench in you treasure cards for the minion will buy you the extra rounds needed to do so. :)

you should update your part about the traps, as he will remove any and all traps after they're placed, not in a turn based order. (that is the so called cheating) also we've had him summon his minions and do fire spells in the very first round, without damage.. it seems like it gets tougher everytime I try it.

The trap portion is correct and does not need an update. If you re trying to cast single traps such as Feint, Curse, Hex or school traps such as Ice trap or death trap - Those WILL be removed every time.

You can cast Spirit and Elemental Traps - He will first remove the Life and Storm part of the trap but the rest will stay untill he is attacked again and then will remove another trap.

Once you drop his health below 2000, he stops towering, but at this stage, he removes a trap every round (responce to above quote). Even if you don't add a new trap or hit him, "Cleanse Ward" is cast, removing any stray traps left on him.

Also, it is at this time (Boss health below 2000), he will start casting the Earthquakes doing 750 Damage (I believe). Although shields and blades are not removed by this earthquake.

Hope this information helps.

Any new traps added in a round will be the first removed, but he will only remove one trap a rouond.

this is not accurate according to my team and our time with him.
Wizard 1 places a trap he removes it.
Wizard 2 places a trap he removes it.
There is no turn base removal with the exception of the elemental and spirit parts. I have seem him cast 3meteors inna row, and do only one tower shield after Hydra damage. I think he is waaaay more random than your guide suggests. Patrick will upload the footage soon enough.

Having been on a bit of a hiatus from W101, it has been quite some time since I have dragged my 2 GM's through Briskbreeze. However, in updating myself with this thread, I am looking forward to getting back in there and running through this tower.

I'm thinking that theoretically, I could finish the final boss in 3-4 rounds with Lady Judgement in 1 shot if the cards fall right. I would need either another Balance wiz or a death wiz to cast a couple buffs.

Andrew - Please feel free to let me know when you are ready to go as I can accomodate a full team if needed OR a Balance or Death wizard as needed. :)

Requiring a henchmen... I would not consider a solo venture... Let me know when it is completed by yourself.. :)

Christo, I will let you know when I have a decent time slot of time, and maybe we can coordinate you and one of the other mercs coming with my 2 wizards and running through.

Oh, and regarding the one shot kill, I totally forgot that Orrick removes all traps as soon as they are cast (see how long its been since I went through this tower!). With that, the best I can do with a full 14 pip Judgement shot is about 5,500 (unless treasure card blades are used). I am figuring a coordinated attack with about an 8 pip judgement and another 1 or 2 attacks from the other wizards could still take him out in one round.

I do have a question regarding the last level. If during the battle Orrick summons the minions, and then you kill Orrick, leaving the minions to still kill, do the interrupts, meteor strikes, heckhounds, etc still occur in future rounds if Orrick is dead?

Andrew, once Orrick is dead, it becomes a normal battle with the 3 balance minions. No interrupts, deadly meteor strikes or heckhounds.

I know it isnt reall considered soloing :censored: But i almost did it

I applaud the effort as it is very difficult to get to 4 - 6 levels alone, never the less reach the final level...

I just don't agree with calling it soloing...

You reached only level 4 of the tower and still have 5 more to go.. :)

Thanks for the answer. It just reiterates my thought to keep focusing on Orrick even if the minions appear. By they way, I have calculated that a balance, storm, and balance wizard group (with a 4th wiz for shielding/healing) should be able to off Orrick in round 4 (round 5 at the latest) with a tri-attack of Judgement, Triton & Judgement. I have my balance wizard equipped with a pet that gives a +30% dragon blalde, as well as a hat that gives a +30% balance blade. Have not tried it, but it looks good in theory...

Round Pips balance storm balance wiz 4
1 - 3-4 - shield; shield; dragon +30%; shield
2 - 4-6 - blizzard + 20%; blade + 30%; balance +25%; shield
3 - 5-8 - balance +25%; tri-blade +35%; balance +30%; shield
4 - 6-10 - judge; triton; judge; heal

* assumes a 20% gear boost for all three wizards

Judge 1 = 6 pips*125=750, 750*(1.2*1.25*1.2)=1,350 damage
Triton = 795*(1.2*1.3*1.35*1.2)=2,009 damage
Judge 2 = 8 pips*125=1,000, 1,000*(1.3*1.2*1.25*1.3*1.2)=3,042 damage
Total Damage = 6,401

EDIT - Can't get the attack sheet to look right. If you can muddle through it, it shows the rounds, pips, and what each wizard would cast. Then the damage calculation at the end.

You are over thinking your game in this tower... Let me explain...

Just yesterday, after one failed attempt at a two-wizard run, a fellow Mercenary and very, very good friend, Fiona Wildshade completed the two-wizard run on the Church of Sado-Christo.

Her Storm Wizard (Calamity <how appropriate the name is>) and my Ice wizard (Galen) completed the tower together... I was the Butter (Buffer) and was only responsible for healing, applying blades and getting out Dark wind (via Dr. Katz Amulet) and Calamity bladed, shielded and healed when necessary (She loves to do the shielding and healing, even though I insist on not getting them). And Calamity casts Storm Lord all the way to the top level. The only difference on the way up is that on level four, I added back to my deck Feint and Elemental Traps to help aid in getting the damage necessary to kill the 6000 hp of Angrus Hollowsoul and his Minion of Death.

On the final level it is all about the Blades… Here is what we did to accomplish that.

Calamity –
* Fire Shield as necessary
* Monstrous enhance her Triton (if not already done on one of the previous levels)
* Storm Blade
* Balance (or Dragon) Blade via her Pet
* Elemental Blade (if needed)

Galen –
* Fire Shield
* Quench TC (For Orrick’s Meteor Storm preferably)
* Elemental Blade (if needed)
* Balance Blade TC 30%
* Balance Blade TC 25%
* Bladestorm TC

Once all of the Blades we applied, Calamity delivered the One Hit Kill to Orrick with almost 7,000 damage. Sometimes you get minions and sometimes you don’t on a One hit Kill… But they are no match for what we have to offer since Both Calamity and Galen have been building pips and usually have a storm lord or Frost Giant just waiting to be cast...

Thank you, Master for the kind and funny words. Because you are the best butter (and the brains of the operation), I do believe that you could take just about anyone into the Church on a 2-man and shake the walls....it just would not be as fun without me :winktongue:

Being prepared made all the difference, in fact, it made it almost too easy. Next time we do it, I think we should go without any TCs to make it more.....interesting.

Cal is aptly named, she does create disasters and misery where ever she goes--being a storm wizard who does not seem to fizzle too much (did I just jinx myself?) even with Frank whispering that word in our ears and the curse of the white pips.

Don't worry, I will continue to shield and heal you whenever and as much as possible, but you already know that

so at which point does he stop tower shielding? I noticed he was under 2k damage and had nothing but a stun shield on from a last attempt stormlord.. and he just quit tower shielding. well I suppose it made for an easy finish. though the earthquakes are annoying.

also, if you kill his minions once. and then use quench, the minions bug and he will not summon them again.

Zachary Firedust posted and I have confirmed (and will add to the first post later today) the following information:

Orrick Nightglider has 6000 health
As soon as his health drops below 4000, he will summon the three minions to help.
Although shields and blades are not removed by this earthquake.
also, if you kill his minions once. and then use quench, the minions bug and he will not summon them again.
If you are talking about the Stomper minions - They will only be summoned once, regardless of what is cast albeit quench or not....

Being prepared made all the difference, in fact, it made it almost too easy. Next time we do it, I think we should go without any TCs to make it more.....interesting.

OK...
Calamity and Galen made our First attempt at a Two Wizard run at the Church of Sado-Christo using NO Treasure Cards. As in the first attempts, Things went very smoothly from level 1 all the way up to level 8. We applied Blades, Traps, Dark Wind and Galen took care of any shielding the MOB's were doing and Calamity used Storm Lord for all 8 of these levels...

On Level 9 - This was a lot tougher than I anticipated since the attacks would not do as much damage without the use of Treasure card Blades... Needless to say our first attempt ended in Failure, but we were OOOHH so close as we Left Orrick with just over 200 health before we were hit with multiple Meteor Storms and Earthquakes two rounds in a row...

I think that we will attempt at least 2 or 3 more runs before we add Treasure Card versions of trained spells into our attempts...

I KNOW 100% that Calamity and Galen can do this and have the utmost Faith in my rule breaking, forever healing and shielding, corner-dwelling partner in crime, and my dearest friend... :p

not so, as we just killed Orrick's minions, and mostly Orrick in one tempest at which point they were already back again, so we killed them AGAIN, and then I imediately quenched his next summons where they then looked as though they were summoned but were not... That is interestng... Orrick is the Wraith on level 9 and the Stompers are the 3 Balance Colossus that get summoned...
In all of the runs that I have made which is probably into the thousands.... I have NEVER had them summoned twice....

The Fire minion that is with Angrus Hallowsoul on level 4, that Minion is repetative and will keep coming back the longer you allow Angrus to stay alive...

indeed the quench has nothing to do with it. I see its just the meteor graphic glitch, followed by the fake summons graphic glitch. just bugs perhaps. tho if you're in the fight long enough either boss will summon their minions again. we even just had Orrick do two meteors inna row, an earthquake and to top it off with killing our storm with a pirate, we hadnt even had time to put on shields. I'd say, he has a mind of his own... and he's irritable today.

In all my times doing the tower, I have never seen Orrick summon the minions more than once.

As for the Angrus, I have only seen him summon 3 minions in total. Several times (It has been awhile, so this might have changed), I killed the minions as they were summoned. After the 3rd one was killed, I stacked a big attack and took out Angrus. He has never summoned a 4th. I'll test this again and get back to you.

Hope this helps.

On a side note: Have you wondered what the actual spell the Exploding Exploding Embers are casting?

Well we beguiled him and he hit Angrus. If only we put a fire prism on Angrus...... It did over 2000 damage, even with Angrus's resist to fire.

Check out the picture. Note: This is NOT an edit.

I have been doing the tower on my Ice wizard.

I want to point out that if you put Melt (Ice Dispel) on Orrick, then after you hit him it will prevent him from towering.

This was a thought I had and I had to see if it would work... And it Does!

I believe if you get 4 on him before you start hitting, he will never get the chance to get a tower up, before you get him below 2000 health.

Ok Andrew...
So my Last tower run included my Ice Wizard and Keira's Fire Wizard... Rather than casting the fire shields that we were casting in previous runs, Keira and I were laying down Quench and Melt on Orrick and lets just say that without all of the interrupts that were now dispelled, (Other the the Minion summoning) this fight is very normal and boring like most of the other floors... Effectively contain??? More like completely Nueter...

With this information, I am really not sure how I will be handling future runs...

My guess is you might be handling the future runs quite easily!:lol2:
One way around making it so easy would be to not use any TC's. Basically, if you have a fire wizard with, have them cast quench. If you don't have a fire wizard, you better cast some shields. Same for an ice wizard. This would make the game plan for each run more contingent on what classes of wizards are on the run.

Of course it's hard to not use these advantages in battle once you know about them.

No specific schools are necessary.

You just have to have wizards that work together.

As Zachary said, no specific school of wizards are necessary to complete this tower. Good teamwork is a must. Reading the first post in this forum is highly recommended if you want to survive. A couple of things will certainly make it more efficient though:

- a wizard who can cast a fairly power AoE spell (storm, fire for example)
- purchase a few quench (and perhaps melt) treasure cards from the bazaar (if you get the booster pack quench cards, it'll cost 1 pip instead of 2)

I'm not sure that anyone has actually solo'd this tower, although I think a necromancer would probably have the best chance of doing it.

ok so get this Christo, one of my death friends doesnt have his ring yet, and I havent logged in for some weeks.. so we decided to give old Brisky a spin.

We get all the way through the levels, no bugs, pretty usual by the book stuff. We enter the last floor... there's no Boss or Culpepper, its straight empty!. We got jipped! haha. I wonder if we're even playing the same game?! haha this tower hates me!

There is definately something up with your runs.... You have the stompers appear more than once as well...

Tell me when you plan on running again as I would like to be a prat of that run to see this for myself.. :)

I completed the tower right after it went live, got the ring, and never went back. When I went through, he didn't summon the Stompers. Were they a fairly recent addition?

There have been a couple of people that "Solo'd" the tower with the aid of henchmen (yes plural), but to me that just is not soloing...

To my knowledge - No one has completed the tower alone in it's current incarnation....

It has been a while since I tried to solo since I need my Balance Wizard to get off his tookas and finish his crafting quests so he can craft the TC's that I need to get to the finish line.... I have made probably 50 attempts to solo all ending somewhere between floor 6 and floor 8...

I have been to level 8 and no farther... Weakness is very hard to get over with out the assistance of special blades and/or others...

The updates came not too far after it's introduction... maybe 3 weeks, possibly 4 weeks... after the tower was introduced???

That's kind of like saying, "I soloed the tower with some help from my friends." hahaha

What school are you attempting this with? In my opinion, Storm is the best school for reaching Orrick, but I'm not sure who'd be best for him. I'd say Death, if you're able to Beguile interrupted Meteors into hitting himself and the Stompers. But since I don't have a lot of experience with Beguile or interrupts, I'm not sure this would work.

What is your strategy for Orrick when going solo? I'm interested in trying to solo it myself now.

I am working my solo attempts on Death. Considering that with only a single prism and a well timed Wraith with the proper buffs and just a round or two more to buff a Scarecrow for the Minions is the best chance to take down Orrick..

But I am a Death Wizard first and foremost... I am sure there are other ideas and plans in place to do what we are attempting...

Sounds good. Do you think it's possible to Wraith him down to just above 4,000, and then finish him with another 4,000+ damage Wraith before he gets the chance to summon the Stompers? It would take quite a bit of buffing (and treasure cards), but I think it's possible.

I am not 100%, but I am pretty sure that the minions will appear even if Orrick is killed in 1 round. I believe a couple of times we have two-hit Orrick in 1 round, killing him, and when the round was over, the 3 Stomper Minions still appeared and had to be dealt with.

Set up with prism for one-hit kill Orrick will not take too many rounds... maybe 8 - 10 total... That will include 2 rounds that I will need to cast Quench to do away with the Heck hound and Meteor Strike....

Minions come out regardless if you kill him in one hit or not... 100% sure of this...

If no minions come out, Orrick is definitely solo-able.

I don't think Orrick can be soloed without the use of treasure cards. I am pretty sure Christo used 2-3 blade treasure cards to boost the wraith attack.

Of course by laying down the gauntlet, and stating that Orrick cannot be soloed without the use of treasure cards, I fully expect someone to prove me wrong, and have me eat my words! :335:

I think you could solo without TC's but you would definitely have to train quench...

Upon further thought, I am in agreement with you Christo. I guess my brain was thinking about trying to one-hit Orrick without the use of treasure cards when I typed my comment. I can't think of any spell in any wizard class that could provide enough punch to knock out Orrick in one shot without the use of TC's. I already know that my souped up Judgement spell with 4 non-TC blades can only hit for 5,600. And I ran the math on a 14 pip tempest spell with storm blade, tri-blade, darkwind, crown hat blade and pet blade, and it hits in that same mid 5,000 neighborhood. Both are oh so close, but not quite there.

But as for soloing without treasure cards, I am starting to feel that my Storm wiz could solo this tower with no treasure cards. I might have to borrow my balance wizards crown hat that gives an extra balance blade and give it a go!

If luck is with you, then yes, storm might have a chance to solo...

The issue I see is that there are just too many Myth mob's that frequently lay down storm shields...

I know that when I run Christo through levels 1-3 & 5-8 he takes a pretty good beating, but recovers with the use of Scarecrow... Storm does not have this benefit and only 3 poitions...

Would love to hear some results if you decide to run this solo with your Storm.. :)

Andrew, you are thinking that you must kill Orrick with one hit.

We can use 2 hits to beat him, but the first hit can't knock him lower than 4,001 health.

You merely have to have the first hit take out around 1,500, then 4,500 damage can easily be done without the use of treasure cards.

I'd say that using no treasure cards would be much more challenging, as you can't use the 1-pip Quench.

Christo, another thing you might want to update in the guide is that apparently death drain spells (wraith, scarecrow, etc) do NOT trigger a tower shield to appear in the 4000-2000 hp range like all other attacks do. The 2 nights I was in there with you and other M4H people, any death attacks I or others used never resulted in a tower shield appearing after the damage was displayed from the drain hit.

This is a very good point.

Let me point out: Scarecrow, wraith, vampire, and ghoul are not attack spells, they are considered life steal spells.

Only attacks cause a tower to be placed (between 4000 and 2000 health), where as Life steal spells do not.

Hope this helps.

Just a few more observations.

You start off with the single boss Angrus Hollowsoul, but once you do any damage to this boss, he will summon the Exploding Ember minion. This minion will keep respawning as you do damage to Angrus but fail to kill Angrus.

I don't believe that dealing damage to Angrus has anything to do with the minions being summoned.

I believe he summons the first one on the 4th turn and another every 4 turns after that, until a total of 3 have been summoned, or Angrus is killed.

While his health is between 4000 and 2000 - He will interrupt right after ANY attack and cast tower shield.
...
If a tower shield is cast, these are just great options to have rather than just trying to over power the 50% defense that Tower shield provides.

These tower shields are not normal tower shields.

They are Eye of Bartleby Booster Pack Tower Shields. (60% Defense, not 50%)

Hope this helps.

Jodo - Here are some answers to your questions:

mobs - This a very common term used to describe your average monster within a Online gaming system like Wizard101. The ones that you find just roaming the streets.. mobs is used similar to the "Angry mobs" of people with torches and pitch forks from some of the more classic horror movies... All of the monsters in the tower except for the bosses (Angrus and Orrick) are considered to be mobs.

m4h - This is an acronym for the help group "Mercenaries for Hire" that can be found in the meet up and help section of W101 Central. This group of wizards offer their assistance to quests that you are finding a little tougher to complete on your own. It is a free service that is only available to W101 Central members all that we ask is that you schedule you mission with as much notice as posssible. You can find a link to the Mercenaries for Hire thread in my signature.

Found how to beat Orrick in five-six turns.

Need two necromancers:
Death Blade, Spirit Blade, Death Prism, Spirit Trap

both use all of the above, so the boss will have two death prisms and two spirit traps. the very next turn, both necromancers use Wraith (for 2390 damage regular Wraith, 2748 damage pet/robe Wraith). Then whoever's next ON THE NEXT TURN has hopefully buffed themselves fully, and uses their Attack All Enemies spell (Storm Lord and Frost Giant work best, but Earthquake, Power Nova, and Dragon all work too) to finish off the boss and the Stompers.

Guaranteed to finish him off quick, with minimal chance of dying.

Just did a quick run with a few friends. The myth girl did an orthrus attack and apparently, the second tower shield didn't appear when the second head attacked. Instead, it appeared AFTER it was done. Therefore, this note has just been proven wrong.

Actually his health was around 3000, still during the phase in which if you attack, he will put a tower shield.

I haven't gotten around to doing the tower
I've heard so many horror stories about it
But this guide gives me hope i guess.
I'm gonna try and get a group together.

Christo - I have been meaning to mention this to you. Twice now when I have done this Tower, when the group hit Level 7, all of the blue wisps were taken, leaving only green ones left. But the green wisps never turned blue, and the gate to Level 8 never opened, forcing the team to grab a green wisp and fight the Mobs.

I am not sure if maybe the group is grabbing the blue wisps too quickly, or maybe grabbing them in a sequence that is causing a glitch to occur that halts the process of the greens turning blue or what. Just figured it was worth mentioning to see if any of the other Tower Trollers have had this happen.
