I know many people are wondering about this and when I stumbled upon this interview I knew I had to share it.

The interview is found on MMOsite.com It has a post date of Aug. 10th If you wan to read the full interview, click here. http://news.mmosite.com/content/2008-08-10/20080810184854224,1.shtml

But here is the bit of news that is important on page 3 of the interview.

At launch, we'll be free-to-play with advanced gameplay for subscribers. We're looking at around 10 a month, with discounts for 6 month and annual subscribers. There will also be a micro-payment system to purchase customized accessories. We expect our catalog of accessories to be extensive...but at the same time, we have to walk a fine line. We don't want to undermine the balance of the game or short-cut the advancement curve too much.

Post launch, we have a ton of new content scheduled (worlds, spells, accessories, even new classes of Magic) as well as new game systems (like housing and crafting and the tournament system, all of the stuff I mentioned earlier.)

So this means those who can afford a monthly payment or your parents get a little extra but its not required to play. And if you don't want a recurring monthly fee you could always go with micro payments for little stuff here and there.

This offers the widest range of possibilities. Those who cant afford a monthly fee or parents don't want to risk using credit card can still play and enjoy the game. Those who can afford a monthly fee and/or micro transaction can help support the game and the company and get some nice extras for your support.

I think this gives the best of all choices and keeps the game open to a larger audience to enjoy.

So we don't have to pay to enjoy everything that's currently in the beta when it's launched?

That's really good because I was thinking about not playing after Beta since my household already has several TT accounts. Now it looks like we'll be able to after all :)

I honestly doubt you're going to be able to play free to play. It will probably let you play Wizard City and then to move on you'd have to subscribe, that's what I would do.
